This is the text I want to have a mousover
Welcome to the tenth Golcar Lily Day.  I hope that you have a great day.

Every year we try to get something different and this year we have made quite a lot of changes. The procession will start from the Rose and Crown at 11.30. Last year we had a lovely procession but I don’t think anyone was up! So we’ve made it later. As we are celebrating our tenth birthday we have decided to have one big party and we would like lots of fancy dress. Anyone in fancy dress is welcome to join the procession and prizes will be given for the best homemade fancy dress with the theme of ‘celebration’.

There will be Golcar races in the streets, a bake off, two re-enactment groups on the field and much, much more besides. Don’t forget to be out in the village at 2.30 for dancing in the streets to the sound of Huddersfield University Dance Band.

We have a welcome stall on Jubilee Square where you can find any information you need.

We are delighted to welcome The Mayor of Kirklees, Councillor Paul Kane and his partner The Mayoress Susan Bedford to enjoy the day with us.

Something to look out for is the Golcar Star badge. We believe that Golcar is a very special place and the Golcar Stars are what make it so. If you see someone wearing a star badge, they are one on the many volunteers who put time and effort
into making our village a great place. And if you believe that you should have a star, go and talk to the people on the welcome stall. Let us know how many stars you see. We will be keeping a record of numbers, because people find it hard to believe just how supportive Golcar folk are.

....and, just in case we get a good day, look up because we may have a Spitfire flying overhead!

Come rain, come shine , come and join us.
