the 33rd regiment of foot

the 33rd foot is modelled on a standard battalion company of a line regiment of infantry during the period 1812–1816
we are not guards, highlanders, rifles, grenadiers or light infantry (and definitely not french!)
we don’t pretend to have any special skills or to be a unique unit
instead we represent an ordinary company of red-coated line infantry
emphasis is placed on the life of the ordinary rank and file – the private soldier – that made up the backbone of the army

the old 68th society (lambtons regiment 1758-1763)

the 68th society was created in 1975 to keep alive the memory of the durham light infantry, one of the most famous county regiments
we do this through our mission to interpret the regiment, and more generally the ordinary british soldier, from 1758 through to the second world war
the 68th is dedicated to the attaining highest levels of historical accuracy and interpretation
we work together to further this work through research, recreating high quality replicas and providing public display across the UK and Europe
