calendar competition and photography exhibition

This year’s theme is “Golcar Framed” and we want to display pictures and photographs of our village and surrounding area that depict life here on the Pennines.
 
For the first time we are running a photography calendar competition where the winning entrants will be short listed under three age related categories:

Under 11's

11-16

16 plus

All entries must relate to the theme of “Golcar Framed” and there will be 12 prizes which will include first, second and third for each age group, the sponsor’s choice, the judge’s choice and the overall people’s choice.
 
You must by April 15th:

• email your photo to [email protected] making sure the email is less than 20MB in size or the world will collapse!
• to be shortlisted you also need to send a high resolution A4 landscape print that includes your full contact details; name, age, address and email or contact number with your entry
• agree by entering, that Golcar Lily Day can use your picture to promote its work on its website and on social media
• agree that we can use your print  in our 2018 Calendar
• accept that the judge’s decision and discretion is final
• make sure you protect your print with card so it does not bend
• send a fee of £2.50 (one fee per entry maximum of 3 entries per person) with a photograph of high resolution A4 size printed to a photographic quality to:

Cheques can be made payable to Golcar Lily Day
Cash will be accepted with your entry but must be securely taped to card with your name.
We offer no refund to any entry even if disqualified.
Please note if you do not comply with this guidance you may be disqualified.
We reserve the right to amend these rules in the spirit of fairness.

The public will be able to vote for their favourite in each category and this will inform the final judge’s decision on a 50/50 basis. The overall people’s choice will be solely decided on the public vote. The public vote will be conducted on social media and on Golcar Lily Day itself.

You are not allowed to enter if:

• you are a professional photographer
• you have used your entry elsewhere in a public domain for the duration of the competition for example on Social Media. (Please remove it from Social Media if you have).
• it is not your picture you are entering

 
Prizes
The winners of the People’s choice, Judge’s Choice and Sponsor’s Choice will all receive a £15 voucher to spend at the Junction One Pub, their photo framed and 10 free copies of the calendar when printed. Total value of the prize = £80 approx
 
The Winners of each age related category will receive their photo in a frame with 10 free copies of the calendar. Total value of the prize = £65 approx
 
Those in second place will receive their photo in a frame and 6 free copies of the calendar. Total value of the prize = £41 approx
 
Those in third place will receive their photo in a frame and 4 free copies of the calendar. Total value of the prize = £29 approx
 
The competition opens of 4th March and closes on 15th April.
